  • About

Dearborn Academy is a coed private special education school serving students in grades 3-12 from forty school districts. We operate both a school year and a six week summer program. Our students have experienced emotional distress and learning challenges in their previous learning environments. The need for increased support and specialized instruction often arises as the result of the following:
    -Anxiety, depression, PTSD
    -ADHD/ADD
    -Bipolar disorder
    -Social pragmatics challenges
-Complex language- based learning challenges, including Dyslexia
    -Executive Functioning challenges
    -School attendance struggles

Dearborn students have average to above average cognitive profiles.

We offer a rich, engaging learning environment responsive to the needs of this student population. In the past five years 100% of our seniors have passed the MCAS and graduated with a diploma from their sending district and/or from Dearborn Academy.

In addition to our strong academic program, students participate in:
    -Music
    -Art
    -Woodshop
    -Jewelry
    -Metal Shop
-Therapeutic sports groups via our partnership with Doc Wayne
-Crew Club via our partnership with Community Rowing, Inc.

Our juniors and seniors receive college and career counseling and preparation so that each student leaves Dearborn with an individualized transition plan. Graduates from Dearborn Academy attend college and/or enter the workforce. Among the 2017 graduates are those attending Dean College, Quincy College and Fitchburg State.
