This year there will be more residents over the age of 65 than under 15 years old and this age shift has huge implications for both workers and customers. To address this trend, the City of Newton joined the World Health Organization’s and AARP’s Age Friendly Network and has completed the first phase of Planning for An All-Age Friendly Newton (PLAAN) which involved community listening sessions with over 300 residents. Join Newton’s Director of Senior Services Jayne Colino for an engaging discussion about what Age-Friendly Planning means for your business or nonprofit.
We’ll discuss: What are the trends in Newton/Needham? What are the strengths and challenges of aging in Newton/Needham? What does it mean to be Age-Friendly, both for employees and customers? How can businesses/nonprofits adjust to this age shift? How can businesses and nonprofits can engage the older worker? How can older workers fill needed gaps in staffing? How can employers become age-friendly?
